Indoor Rowing
Indoor rowing replaces the boat with a machine called a rowing ergometer. The ergometer or Ergo for short is designed to simulate as near as possible the movement of the rowing stroke.
Ergos have a monitor which can provide information on distance, time and so forth. Ergos may be linked together by data cables enabling competition with other rowers in the same room or even across continents.
Indoor regattas are fast becoming popular with mass participation and there are a number of competitions called indoor regattas all the way up to World Championships.
