Henley Midmar Rowing Club
Resting at 1000m above sea level Midmar Dam is the recreational heart of the Natal Midlands and it is here that Henley Midmar Rowing Club resides. With five separate stretches of 2km there is always ample water to row on and one can usually find a sheltered stretch even on windy days. The club is a brand new addition becoming affiliated to KZNRA in 2017
Every year on the Sunday closest to the shortest day of the year, HMRC organises the Midmar Long Row. The social event starts at the Henley Midmar Yacht Club and proceeds to the furthest reaches of Midmar Dam including Cascades, the point at which Lions River enters the dam. Crews are not fixed and can change at any point along the shore, in fact participants are encouraged to change crews and meet new people. Refreshment is offered at Thurlow on the return leg and crews can give their sustenance to the land support teams, who will take it there for you.
