Rowing Club
UKZN is the bridge between schools and senior rowing. It is a constituent member of USSA-R the university body that governs the sport of rowing in South African universities.
The university students own the rights to fun and this is best portrayed by the two ‘university only’ events they compete in each year. USSAR Sprints which is rowed every March at venues that move around the country and The Universities Boat Race on the Cowie River in Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape. This event attracts 12 universities from around the country.
UKZN holds the distinction of being the most transformed rowing university in the country. Its proud history includes wins at boat race. If you are a student at UKZN come and join us
UKZN Durban used to row, it is high time that this proud tradition is reinstated.
UKZN Issues a challenge to every university in KwaZulu Natal. “Start a boat club and meet us on the water!”
